Teachers demand nationalisation of education system

Demanding realization of various demands, Bangladesh Shikhhak Samity, Mymensingh district unit organised a divisional rally at town’s Krishnachura Chattar yesterday.
The demands include nationalisation of education system, increase of five percent salary, full festival bonus, house rent and medical facilities.
Hundreds of teachers from Mymensingh, Sherpur, Netrakona and Jamalpur districts joined the grand rally, sources said.
The speakers urged the prime minister to take immediate step to fulfill their demands for the betterment of country’s education.
“If our demands are not met by January 25, we would go for tougher movement”, they warned at the rally.
Later, they brought out a procession in the town and submitted a memorandum to the divisional commissioner in favour of their demands.
Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique, samity’s central president was the chief guest.Chairman of Mymensingh Zila Parishad Prof Yusuf Khan Pathan, samity’s central general secretary Principal Abul Kashem, its vice presidents-Md Bazlur Rahman Miah, Mir Ashraf Hossain, Ali Asgar Saudagor; jont-secretary Md Kawsar Ali Sheikh and Dukul Chandra Dev addressed the rally, among others. Md Chand Miah, general secretary of samity’s Mymensingh district unit delivered the welcome speech with its president Shamsunnahar Begum in the chair.
