Celebrated director Amitabh Reza Choudhury’s debut big screen venture ‘Aynabaji’, which went on to become the biggest hit film in the recent years, will be screened today at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital, as a part of the ongoing 15th edition of ‘Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) 2017’.
‘Aynabaji’ saw its release on October 7 last year, in which Chanchal Chowdhury has played the main role and actress Nabila and singer-turned-actor Partha Barua made their film debut through the film. Produced by Content Matters, the film also includes popular actors Lutfor Rahman George, Hera Chowdhury, Shawkat Osman, Brindaban Das, Gousul Alam Shaon and Iffat Trisha in the different roles.
Besides, an American film ‘The PHD Movie: Still in Grad School’ by Iram Parveen Bilal, Icelandic Film ‘101 Reykjavik’ by Baltasar Kormakur, Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami’s ‘Certified Copy’ and Australian film ‘The Colour of Darkness’ by Girish Makwana will be screened respectively at 10am, 1pm, 3pm and 5:30pm at the same venue.
On the other hand, Charles Chaplin-directed two films ‘The Kid’ and ‘The Circus’ will be screened at 10am at the main auditorium of Public Library.
‘The Kid’ is a 1921 American silent comedy-drama film is written, produced, directed and starring Charlie Chaplin. The film features Jackie Coogan as his adopted son and sidekick. The story shows The Tramp cares for an abandoned child, but events put that relationship in jeopardy. In the film, Charlie Chaplin plays the role of Tramp.
‘The Circus’ is a 1928 silent film written and directed by Charlie Chaplin. The film stars Chaplin, Al Ernest Garcia, Merna Kennedy, Harry Crocker, George Davis and Henry Bergman. The ringmaster of an impoverished circus hires Chaplin’s Little Tramp as a clown, but discovers that he can only be funny unintentionally, not on purpose. ‘Also, Iranian film ‘Paris Tehran’ by Kaveh Oveisi, Philippines film  ‘The Sister’ by Joseph Israel Laban, Indian film ‘Chaaknoiya’ (Whirlpool) by Nava Kumar Nath Bangladeshi ‘Jonmo Sathi’ (Born Together) by Shabnam Ferdous will be screened respectively at 10am, 1pm, 3pm and 5:30pm at the same venue. l
