Six people were killed in separate road accidents in three districts yesterday. Our Jessore correspondent says: Three people were killed when a bus collided with a human hauler at Shantala in Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased were identified as Lavlu Dhali, 35, his brother Jakir Dhali, 30, and Farid Hossain, 28, of Phulshara village in Chougachha upazila.
The accident took place around 8:30 am when the Chougachha-bound bus collided with the human hauler carrying 11 passengers while going to Jessore, leaving Jakir dead on the spot and nine passengers of the human hauler injured, said police.
The injured were rushed to Jessore General Hospital where the doctors declared Lavlu dead, said Ilias Ali, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Later, Farid Hossain died on way while being taken to the capital. Police seized the bus.
In Comilla: Two women were killed and two people injured as a private car ran over them on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Chandina bus stand area yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Parul Begum, 45, wife of Idris Miah, a resident of Madhyamtala village in Chandina upazila, and Nurjahan Begum, 55, wife of Rabiullah, a resident of Bagur village in Debidwar upazila.
Sub-inspector Manirul Islam of Iliotganj highway police camp said Parul and Nurjahan died on the spot after the private car hit them when they were standing on the highway around 8.30pm.
The injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In Kurigram: A vegetable vendor was killed as a pickup van hit a roadside tree in Farkerhat Bazar area in Rajarhat upazila yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as M Shafiq, 40, a resident of Chaparhat in Lalmonirhat.
Officer-in-Charge of Rajarhat Police Station M Mukhlesur Rahman said the accident occurred when a green chili-laden pickup van hit a roadside tree in the area as its driver lost control over the vehicle, leaving the vehicle passenger Shafiq dead on the spot.
