Actor AK Qureshi passes away

Veteran actor AK Qureshi (Azizul Kader Qureshi), who was characteristically known for playing as a judge or a barrister or a senior police officer in all most every film he acted in his lifetime, died in the early morning of Wednesday at the age of 80. He died at a hospital in Los Angeles of the United States. Writer and film collector Mir Shamsul Alam Babu, husband of Qureshi’s niece, confirmed the news of the actor’s death through a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Born on May 8 in 1937, Azizul Kader Qureshi was also known as a sound editor. Besides, he was a founding member of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation and also served as the Director of Foreign Programmes at Bangladesh Television. On the other hand, Qureshi acted in more than 100 cinemas and dramas. He is popularly known as an on-screen judge among the audience of Bangla movies. Except for films, he also worked in two episodes of the popular Hollywood television serial ‘The X-Files’. He, however, had been living along with his family in the United States with his children over the last several years. Qureshi left behind two sons named Faisal Qureshi and Farhad Qureshi, daughter Kanta Qureshi, grandsons and granddaughters and a host of relatives, friends and well wishers to mourn his death.
