A thirteen-day solo painting exhibition by Iranian artist-film activist Sarah Hojjati is underway at Gallery Shilpangan in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. Shilpangan, in association with Rainbow Film Society, has arranged the solo painting exhibition as a part of the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival 2017. Renowned artist Rafiqun Nabi inaugurated the exhibition on the gallery premises on Sunday evening. Besides, chief adviser to Dhaka International Film Festival Committee Rabiul Husain, eminent writer and researcher Mofidul Hoque and president of Rainbow Film Society Ahmed Muztaba Zamal, among others, were present.
A total of 30 paintings has been put on display in the ongoing exhibition.
To note, the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival will begin tomorrow at the National Museum auditorium with the slogan ‘Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society’. The other venues of the film festival are Central Public Library auditorium, Alliance Francaise De Dhaka, The Edward M Kennedy Center and Star Cinelpex. A total of 166 films from 67 countries, including Bangladesh, will be screened during the festival.
This year, Rainbow Film Society is celebrating its 40 years and festival’s Silver Jubilee.
The exhibition by Sarah Hojjati is open to all everyday from 3pm to 8pm, until January 20.
