Prothom Alo chief photo journo hurt in road accident

Daily Prothom Alo’s chief photo-journalist Zia Islam, injured in a road accident, was yesterday shifted in a critical condition to Apollo Hospital from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Meanwhile, actor Kalyan Corraya was detained yesterday in connection with a case filed with Kalabagan Police Station for the road accident that injured Prothom Alo chief photojournalist Zia Islam. The actor was arrested following a complaint lodged by Zia's employers. Prothom Alo Manager (Security) Major (retd) Sajjad Ul Kabir lodged the complaint. Zia was severely injured when a speeding private car hit his motorcycle from behind in front of Bashundhara City shopping complex in Dhaka’s Panthapath area on Monday night He was admitted to Apollo Hospital around 2:30 pm. He underwent a neurosurgical operation there. Doctors said Islam’s condition was stable for the time being following the operation. The medical board that was formed for Zia’s treatment advised that he be transferred to Apollo Hospital or be taken abroad for treatment. Zia was severely injured when a speeding private car hit his motorcycle from behind in front of Bashundhara City shopping complex in Dhaka’s Panthapath area on Monday night. With severe injuries in his legs and head, he was first taken to the DMCH, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICT). The photojournalist from the leading vernacular daily rose to fame following his exclusive photo-coverage of the August 21 grenade attack and the Holey Artisan Bakery terrorist attack.
