Datasoft, along with its sister concern Mobioapp, developed ‘TV guide Bangladesh’, an app to cater to the needs for the guidance of roaming around TV channels. The app was unveiled yesterday during a ceremony held at a city hotel. Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu has inaugurated the mobile application ‘TV Guide Bangladesh’ at the function on Sunday.
Mahbub Zaman, Managing Director of Datasoft Systems Bangladesh Limited, Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, Chief Editor of Baishakhi TV, KM Harun, Program Adviser of SATV, media personality M Hamid, and other eminent media personalities were present. Abdun Nur Tushar moderated the function. TV Guide is a joint initiative of Data soft and Mobioapp.
Unveiling the app, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said, “This app could be very handy to let you know about the programs that you want to watch”.
Inu said that as there are so many TV channels, it is hard to keep track of all the channels. “Most of the urban people now use smartphones, so having an app on TV guide is a very good idea”.
Mahbub Jaman, CEO of Datasoft said, previously there was only one channel-BTV. “There was a TV guide published about the schedule of the programs showed in the TV in every three months. Now we have a lot of channels and the newspapers publish about the schedule of some of those channels on a daily basis”.
He added that Datasoft however wanted to give the TV viewers a full digital experience. “The trend of using smartphone is on the rise, especially in the urban areas. So we planned to develop an app which would work like a complete TV guide for all the channels for the viewers”, he said.
He also said that the app is now linked with about 25 TV channels. But users will be connected shortly to over one hundred channels that air in Bangladesh. “The app is already available at Google Play Store. Any android user can download it to avail the services that it provides.”
Explaining about the app, Asruf-ul-Jubair, business development manager of Mobioapp, said that the app will allow users to experience many features including trailers, upcoming festival-specific programmes, customisation and alert on favourite programmes or stars.
The app has many sections. If you enter into the ‘Ekhon Cholche’ section, then you can learn about the different programs of different TV channels that are currently on the air. In ‘Amar Zone’ section, one can select one’s favorite categories.
“If someone likes sports, then in Amar Zone, he can select his favorite sports and if any program related with that sports is on air, then he will get an alert”, he said.
He also added that interesting features like video streaming, interactive feedback and chatting with stars on demand will be added to the app in the process.
