Celebrated singer Tapan Chowdhury has spent more than 40 years in the music world of the country. To celebrate the singer’s landmark journey, Banglar Dhol arranged a special event at Dhaka Club in the capital on Saturday. With a special initiative by managing director of Banglar Dhol Enamul Haq, the event featured celebration of 40-year musical journey of Tapan Chowdhury, launching of Tapan Chowhdury’s new album titled ‘Fire Elam’—any new album after 13 years and honouring seven veterans.
To congratulate Tapan Chowdhury on his milestone achievement, veteran music exponent of the subcontinent Ustad Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury, internationally-acclaimed singer Runa Laila, actor Alamgir, music director-composer Sheikh Sadi Khan, Farid Ahmed, music personality Rafiqul Alam, Abida Sultana, Ferdous Wahid, Fahmid Nabi, Kumar Bishwajit, Samina Chowdhury, Fuad Naser Babu, Labu Rahman, Sumona Haq, Sabatani, Jhumu Khan, Manam Ahmed, Shomi Kaiser, Alam Ara Minu, Badshah Bulbul, Shawkat Ali Emon, Kabir Bakul, Mehreen, SD Rubel, Anupoma Mukti, Shafiq Tuhin, Close-up singer Sabbir, Kishore Das and Pulak, among others, were present at the programme.
Attending the programme as the chief guest, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said, “Tapan Chowdhury is my very favourite singer. A new chapter of Bangladesh’s modern songs began with his songs. The star-studded get together of today’s programme has proven intensely that how much everyone loves Tapan Chowdhury.”
Tapan Chowdhury expressed his feelings, “In one word, I am overwhelmed, fascinated. Now, I could see in my own eyes that people of Bangladesh love me very much. My respect and love to everyone.”
On the other hand, seven veterans were honoured during the Saturday’s programme for their direct and indirect support to the successful career of Tapan Chowdhury. They were Subrata Barua Roni, Nakib Khan, Ayub Bachchu, Amzad Hossain, Alauddin Ali, Tajul Islam and Jilu Khan.
Singers Alam Ara Minu, Sabbir Jaman, Kishore, Badshah Bulbul, Anima Mukti and others performed popular songs of Tapan Chowdhury in the beginning of the programme. Moreover, a cake was cut to celebrate the birthday of Tapan Chowdhury in the concluding part of the event.
