Man stabbed to death
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Mymensingh

A man was stabbed to death in Akua Wireless Gate area of Mymensingh town early yesterday.
The deceased was Farhad Hossain, 20, of the area.
Quoting family and local people sources, Md Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station said Farhad had an altercation with one Noman and his brother Taslim of the same area over playing carom a few months back.Following the feud, Noman along with his associates Taslim, Shanto and Elahi allegedly came to the spot riding a battery-run auto-rickshaw around 12.10am and locked in an altercation with Farhad, police sources said.
At one stage they allegedly started stabbing Farhad indiscriminately, injuring him critically. Hearing the scream of the victim, locals rushed to the spot and took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to MMCH morgue for autopsy.
Three drug peddlers held

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three drug peddlers including an Indian national along with 300 bottles of phensidyle from Narkelbaria village in Sarsha upazila of Jessore district early yesterday.
The arrested were Mofijul Islam, 50, an UP member of Dihi union Council, Mujibor Rahman, of Narkelbaria village and Jakir Hossain, 45, of Nopara village at in north 24 Pargona district of West Bengal. LT Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer, 26 Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion said on information, a team of the BGB raided the house of Mafijul islam around 3am. A case  was filed in this connetion.
Beggars get essential items
CHUADANGA: Under the beggars rehabilitation program of the government, Titudah Union Parishad under sadar upazila of the district distributed essential commodities like rice, dal, edible oil, potato and soap among 73 beggars on Thursday, reports BSS.
Chuadanga Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) (acting) Pulok Kumar Mondol distributed the commodities at a function held at the Titudah union Parisad auditorium with Aktar Hossain, chairman of the union in the chair.
