A young couple was found hanged at their house in Shaktala Maddhyapara of the city on Wednesday evening, reports UNB. Police recovered the bodies of Mobarak Hossain, 25, a rickshaw-puller, and his wife Sharmin Aktar, 18, a factory worker, which were hanging from the ceiling with a single scarf. Both of them hailed from Jhalam area in Barua upazila of the district. Major Mostafa Kaizar, commanding officer of Rapid Action Battalion-11 Crime Prevention Company-2, said Mobarak and Sharmin got married 44 days ago against the decision of their families. They might have committed suicide following the refusal of their families to recognise the marriage, he said.
