Three double centuries as Day-2 belongs to batsmen

Batsmen dominated the second day of the sixth and last round of the National Cricket League (NCL) as three double centuries have been made at two different venues across the country yesterday. In-form young batsman Saif Hassan and Taibur Rahman smashed centuries for Dhaka Division, while Alok Kapali cracked for Sylhet Division.
Riding on Saif Hassan (204) and Taibur Rahman (242), Dhaka Division piled on 588-6 (declared) against Barisal Division at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Tier-1 match.  
At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, table-toppers Khulna Division rode on Anamul Haque Bijoy’s century took a 375-run lead against Dhaka Metro in other Tier-1 match. Dhaka are closely followed Khulna with the latter were leading by seven points till the fifth round
Chittagong fell on huge pressure from Sylhet Division as the latter declared their first innings on 555 for seven at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Tier-2 match.
Elsewhere at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Rajshahi Division still have deficit of 118 more runs against Rangpur Division.
Dhaka vs Barisal
Resuming the second day on 300-3, Dhaka Division added 288 runs at the expense of three wickets. Overnight not out duo-Saif Hassan and Taibur Rahman Parvez hit 304-run for the fourth wicket before breaking the successful partnership. Young batsman Saif Hassan converted his century (131) to double century (204). He clobbered 20 fours and one six in his 410-ball 204 before being bowled.
Taibur then stitched together 110-run for the sixth wicket stand with Nadif Chowdhury, who remained at stumps at 35. Taibur Rahman converted his 70 to 242, clubbing 26 fours and one six in his 302-ball knock. Dhaka declared their first innings after the fall of Rahman. Paceman Tawhidul Islam snapped up five wickets for 87.
In reply, Barisal Division scored 89 for five with Al Amin making 33 and Monir Hossain scoring 10. Shahadat Hossain and Mohammad Sharif picked up two wickets for Dhaka.
Khulna vs Metro
Dhaka Metropolis lost the remaining seven wickets to put on 85 runs with overnight 37-3. Al Amin Hossain, Ashiquzzaman and Abdur Razzak together halted their progress. The trio grabbed two wickets apiece. Sharifullah topscored for Metro with 38. Mehrab Hossain Junior contributed 22, the second best.
Khulna Division brilliantly replied as they scored 272 for three after their first innings total of 207. Anamul Haque Bijoy clouted 122 off 153 with the help of 12 fours and five sixes before being caught behind.
Hasanuzzaman chimed in with 55, hitting half-a-dozen fours and two sixes. Tushar Imran remained unbeaten on 73.  
Sylhet vs Chittagong
Resuming the second day on 309-4, Sylhet Division added 246 more runs before declared their innings. Overnight batsman Alok Kapali anchored the innings. He converted his 56 to century and then double century. Sylhet skipper plundered 10 sixes and 12 fours in his 200 off 266 to be remained at stumps. Jaker Ali finally made 78 to resume with 37. Rahatul Ferdous fell five runs short of his fifty.  Iftekhar Sajjad claimed three and Nayeem Hasan took a brace for Chittagong.
Chittagong in reply accumulated 115 for three with Nafees Iqbal scoring 51 and Yasir Ali making 53.
Rajshahi vs Rangpur
Despite Mamun Hossain’s five-for, Rangpur Division mustered 350 in response to Rajshahi Division’s first innings total of 191. Liton Kumar Das slammed 74 to resume with 41. Nasir Hossain struck 68 off 97 with eight fours. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhiman Ghosh missed his century for three runs. He hammered 15 fours to make his 123-ball 97.
Mamun Hossain scalped five wickets giving away 81 runs.
In reply, Rajshahi Division made 42-1 with Myshukur Rahman scoring 16 and Zunaied Siddique making 21.
