With the film ‘The Father’ in 1979, today’s veteran filmmaker Kazi Hayat made his directorial debut in the country’s film industry. Till today, he has made 49 films and his last film was ‘Chhinnomul’. Now, Kazi Hayat is going to make yet another new film titled ‘Ghum’ in the beginning of the New Year, which will be produced by Impress Telefilm.
DhakaLive has news that popular actress Mousumi has been selected for playing the central role in the film. Mousumi’s involvement in the film was finalised on last Friday and she is very excited with the opportunity of acting in the 50th film of noted director Kazi Hayat.
Mousumi acted under the direction of Kazi Hayat for the first time in the film ‘Luttoraj’ opposite late actor Manna in 1997. Then, she acted under the same director in the film ‘Ammajan’ in 1999, ‘Kostsho’, ‘Bortoman’ and ‘Etihas’ in 2000, and last time in ‘Minister’ in 2003. Now again, after 13 years, Mousumi will act under the direction of Kazi Hayat.
Mousumi said about working in the film, “This is truly my good fortune that I am going to play in the 50th film of a brilliant director like Kazi Hayat. Meanwhile, I have heard the story of ‘Ghum’ and felt wonderful. The most fascinating part of working with him is that the story and dialogue are always awesome. I am optimistic about the film as I think it would be a new challenge for me in the New Year.”
Kazi Hayat said, “As time passes by, I have spent 37 years in the film industry. I never thought that I would make my 50th film with success. Thanks to Impress Telefilm for being by my side. My heartiest thanks to Mousumi as she agreed to work in the film even after knowing that ‘Ghum’ is not a commercial film.”
