Nine people were killed in separate road accidents in 6 districts in last two days.
In Dinajpur, three people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Ranipukur in Nababganj upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Debbrata Saha, 40, hailing from Narsingdi, truck driver Jhantu Miah, 42, from Jhenidah, and bus driver Abdus Salam, 45, of Naogaon.
Abdul Hakim Azad, officer-in-charge of Nababganj Police Station, said a bus collided with a truck in the area around 6.00am, leaving the trio dead on the spot and 10 others injured. The injured were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
In Bagerhat: A man was killed and two others injured as a bus hit a van on Bagerhat-Pirojpur highway in Doratana Toll Plaza area of the district town around 11am, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Sohag, 32.
Mizanur Rahman, OC of Bagerhat Model Police Station, said the accident took place when a bus hit the van, leaving the van’s passenger Sohag dead on the spot and two others injured.
In Comilla: A former union parishad chairman and his son were killed as a truck ran over them on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Raipur area in Daudkandi upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Md Selim, 65, former chairman of Bhitikandi union parishad, and his son Golam Sarwer, 28, both residents of Kalipur village of the Titash upazila.
Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge Daudkandi highway police, said the Comilla-bound truck ran over them in the area in the morning after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
Our Benapole correspondent says: A motorcyclist was killed on By-pass road in Benapole yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Chanchal Hossain, 25, of Baropota village in Benapole.
OC of Benapole port police Apurba Hasan said the accident took place at around 12:00 pm when Chanchal lost control of his motorbike and hit a tree, leaving him seriously injured. Local people rushed him to Navaron Health Complex. He died on the way to Jessore Medical College Hospital at around 12:30pm.
Our Jessore correspondent reports: An Army man was killed as a truck hit his motorcycle in Khayertala area of the district town on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Golam Mostafa, 30, an army member of Jessore Cantonment and son of Tamijuddin, a resident of Sadar upazila in Jamalpur district.
OC of Kotwali police Sheikh Elias Hossain said a truck hit Mostafa’s motorcycle when he reached Khayertala area, leaving him dead on the spot. Mostafa was returning home on the motorbike at about 8.00pm.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Our Panchagarh correspondent adds: Two motorcyclists were killed as a truck ran over them in Haliport area on Panchagarh-Tentulia highway in Sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Majid, 40, of Kateypara area of Panchagarh town, and Irfan Ali, 40, of Birganj upazila in Dinajpur.
