Faridpur: Police arrested a local journalist from Goalchamot Rathkhola area in the district town on Friday on charge of extortion, reports UNB.The arrestee was identified as Kabirul Islam Siddiki, 48, former president of Faridpur Press Club and editor of local daily Dainik Nagorik Barta.Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Nazimuddin said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Kabirul at about 2.15pm.  Mahbubul Islam Pikul, general secretary of Faridpur Press Club, filed the case against Kabirul Islam in connection with the extortion of Tk 5,000 in 2014.Recently, police submitted the charge sheet against Kabirul, the OC added.
