‘No outdoor
gatherings
on 31st night’

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said all necessary measures have been taken to ensure foolproof security ahead of 31st night, reports UNB. Some 10,000 members of law enforcing agencies, including plainclothes police, will be deployed in the city to ensure foolproof security of people, said the DMP commissioner at a press briefing at the DMP media centre yesterday.
“No open space programme on roads and flyovers will be allowed on that day. However, there is no specific threat centring the 31st December night,” he said. Besides, those who want to enter Gulshan area will have to enter through Kakoli and Amtoli areas but outsiders will not be allowed to enter Gulshan area, the DMP boss added.  None will be allowed in Hatirjheel area after 8 pm and no parking will be allowed there, said Asaduzzaman. Carrying of licensed firearms will be prohibited from 8 pm Saturday to 5 am Sunday while only vehicles with stickers will be allowed to enter the DhakaUniversity area after 6 pm, he said.  “We don’t want to make any obstruction to anyone’s joy. If anyone wants to celebrate, he/she can arrange indoor programme after taking permission from police”, said the DMP commissioner.
