Rajshahi: Local units of Awami League and Rajshahi University unit Chhatra League yesterday allegedly forced RU authorities to postpone a recruitment test for not implementing some of their demands regarding the test.
A group of RU unit BCL staged demonstrations on Rajshahi-Dhaka Highway for two hours around 8am yesterday demanding cancellation of the test. Sources said a total of 30 to 50 BCL leaders and activists led by university BCL President Golam Kibria and Secretary Faisal Ahmed Runo and Motihar Thana AL secretary Alauddin put the main gate of Science Bhaban of the university under lock and key. Besides, local Awami League leaders and activists allegedly locked different gates of the university and staged demonstration, chased the job-seekers and drive them out of the campus.

General secretary of Motihar Thana unit of AL Md Alauddin said, "We urged the authorities to postpone the exam demanding extension of recruitment age limit." On the contrary, university’s proctor Professor Mozibul Haque Azad alleged the local Awami League and RU unit BCL leaders and activities stopped the exam demanding appointment of party men to the posts. Additional police have also been deployed to avoid anarchy situation, he added.
Rajshai Metropolitan unit AL general secretary Dablu Sarker alleged that they have huge documents on giving appoint to Jamat- BNP men instead of their supporters. Chowdhury Sarwar, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University, said, "We took preparation to hold the recruitment test for 27 posts under different categories but the outsiders cancelled the examinations."
