Three people including a woman and her daughter were killed in road accidents in Laxmipur and Noakhali distrits yesterday morning. Our Noakhali correspondent reports: A teenager was killed and another injured as a CNG-run auto rickshaw hit a roadside tree at Udmara village under Raipur upazila of Laxmipur district yesterday morning. The deceased was M Sohel, 14, son of M Kokhon, a resident of the same village.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Raipur Police Station M Lokman Hossain said the accident occurred when the auto rickshaw hit a roadside tree in the area in dense fog, leaving its passenger Sohel dead on the spot. Auto rickshaw driver Kauser suffered critical injuries in the accident. He was sent to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. In Noakhali, a woman and her daughter were killed as a CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head-on with a private car on the Chowmuhani-Sonaimuri road near Sonaimuri upazila complex yesterday morning, reports BSS.
The deceased are Hasina Akhter, 38, and her daughter Himu Akhter, 12, residents of Ghoskanta village under Nateshor union of the upazila. Sub-Inspector of Sonaimuri Police Station Tomash Barua said the accident occurred when the auto rickshaw collided head-on with a training private car in the area at about 11 am, leaving auto rickshaw passengers Hasina and Himu dead on the spot. Police recovered the bodies and sent to Noakhali Medical College Hospital morgue.
