China Southern Airlines Company Limited – or Southern Airlines for short held an introduction meeting in the capital of Bangladesh, Dacca on December 10. The meeting chiefly introduced new Southern Airlines flights. These include direct flights from Guangzhou to Toronto, and a direct flight from Guangzhou to Adelaide.
Gao Bo, general manager of Southern Airlines’ Dacca Office, said, “The people of Bangladesh have a great demand for flights to Canada and Australia. Especially in Toronto, there are many Bangladesh immigrants living. So they often travel between the two countries for trade, family visits and so on. In the past, flights had to transfer at Dubai or other places in the Middle East. Now, however, direct flight lines opened by Southern Airlines have given Bangladeshi customers more choices.
Southern Airlines began operating direct flights from Guangzhou to Dacca in 2009. Gao Bo said that in addition to passenger transport, the airline also does transportation for high-quality ready-made clothes, seafood and other products. At present, a great part of the fresh crabs bought by Guangzhou residents come from Bangladesh.
Gao Bo also said that along with upgrading relations between China and Bangladesh, the personnel exchange and freight transport between the two countries are also becoming more frequent. Southern Airlines takes a great interest in the markets of Bangladesh and has increased its efforts to grow further. In the future, it will increase its input in hauling capacity, using wide-bodied planes to serve the markets of Bangladesh. Moreover, Southern Airlines also plans to improve its flight times, making it more convenient for the people of Bangladesh to transfer at Guangzhou and travel the world.
