Audience-admired actor Monir Khan Shimul, who has been absent from the small screen since last six months, has recently started acting in the ongoing drama serial ‘Sunflower’ from the last week.
DhakaLive has news that after returning to the country last week after five months, Shimul received the script of ‘Sunflower’ from director Nazrul Islam Raju with an offer for playing a significant role in the drama serial. Shimul agreed to play the role of an agriculturist named Iftekhar Chowdhury after reading the script.
In that connection, Shimul took part in the shooting of the drama serial last week. Popular actors Apurba and Tareen, among others, are his co-artistes in ‘Sunflower’.
Shimul, who is pretty excited with the opportunity of being part in the drama serial, said, “A role like Iftekhar Chowdhury is a dream character for many artistes to some extents. Artistes always eagerly wait for playing these types of characters. So, I felt really wonderful playing this amazing role in ‘Sunflower’.”
“Besides, I never depended on the income that I earn from acting. As a result, I could return the scripts happily, which I didn’t like. I never wanted to play a role which could affect negatively on the society or on the mind of the people. Rather, I wanted to play those roles that will be liked by the people even in the faraway future”, he added.
Director Nazrul Islam Raju informed DhakaLive that Shimul will be seen appearing in the drama serial after 30th episode. ‘Sunflower’ is being aired every Thursday and Friday at 8:20pm on NTV.
