China ready to be a pillar for United Nations undertakings

Recently, the next secretary-general of the United Nations, Mr. Guterres, paid a visit to China. In talks with China’s President Xi Jinping, Guterres praised China, saying, “China has already become a major pillar for the undertakings of the United Nations and for multilateralism”. This saying is not wrong. For a long time, especially in recent years, China has made outstanding contributions to the work of the UN.

China consciously maintains, inherits and expands the tenets and principles of United Nations Charter. Throughout the years, China has always firmly safeguarded the spirit of the charter, and always supported the vital role played by the United Nations in international affairs. China is the first great power to take the principle of win-win cooperation as the target in settling relations among different countries, inheriting and carrying forward the tenets of United Nations Charter.

China uses actions to support the work of the United Nations and President Xi declared China’s commitment to the world at the general debate of the 70th UN General Assembly. China has decided to set-up the China-UN Peace and Development Fund for a period of ten years, committing a total sum of one billion US dollars to promote the multilateral cooperation. China will take the lead in maintain peace, having decided to take the lead in establishing a permanent peace maintaining police force and building up a ready unit for the safeguarding of peace. This force numbers 8,000 people. It is obvious that China has infused a new power for maintaining world peace.

China is making contributions to the United Nations’ Development Agenda and Global Governing Schemes as well. President Xi announced the set-up of the “South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund” to increase investment in the least developed countries, while exempting some of their loan debts. China is boosting the negotiations on climate change and is implementation the Paris Agreement. In addition, just as Guterres has said, China’s proposed founding the Asian Infrastructural Investment Bank, which is also a major contribution to the development of the world.
