A ‘Bijoy Utsab’ (Victory Festival) organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the upcoming Victory Day began on the academy premises yesterday.
To commemorate the Martyred Intellectuals Day, the programme began with the placing of wreath at the Mirpur martyred intellectuals’ graveyard and Rayerbazar martyred intellectuals’ mausoleum.
A discussion was held on the academy premises later in the day presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky. Among others, cultural affairs secretary Begum Akhtari Momtaz, cultural personality Bhaskar Bandopaddhay attended the discussion part. Martyred intellectual Sirajuddin Hossain’s son Shahin Reza Noor and Martyred intellectual Mofazzal Haider Chowdhury’s son Tanvir Haider Chowdhury were present as discussants.
During the cultural part, Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay, Ishrat Jahan Bithi, Jharna Sarker, Ashraful Alam and Belayet Hossain recited poems while Semonti Monjuri and Mustafizur Rahman Turja presented duet song ‘Ache Dukkho Ache Mrityu’.
Besides, Jatiya Rabindra Sammilan Parisad, Dhaka Mahanagar Shakha and Dhaka Sangskritik Dal rendered chorus songs at the event.
