Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) like every year will organise an exhibition match to mark the Victory Day 2016.
The 20-over match will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) at 3:30pm on Friday.
A total of 30 former players have been named for the exhibition match. They will play for the teams that named after Shaheed Jewel XI and Shaheed Mushtaque XI.
Former wicketkeeper-batsman cum skipper Khaled Masud Pilot will lead Shaheed Jewel XI, whereas Shariar Hossain Biddut, Javed Omer Belim, Mehrab Hossain Opi, Jahangir Alam, Hasanuzzaman, Neeyamur Rashid Rahul, Faruque Ahmed, Enamul Hoque Moni, Mohammad Ali, Morshed Ali Khan Sumon, Shafiuddin Ahmed Babu, Talha Jubair and Anisur Rahman will be in the same squad. Former top-order batsman Athar Ali Khan will act as team manager and former paceman Dipu Roy Chowdhury will guide them as the coach.
Former skipper Akram Khan on the other hand will show the way of Shaheed Mushtaque XI. Khan will be aided by Harunur Rashid Liton, Hannan Sarker, Habibul Bashar, Minhazul Abedin Nannu, Naimur Rahman Durjoy MP, Khaled Mahmud Sujan, Jamal Uddin Babu, Alamgir Kabir, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Rafique, Sazzad Ahmed Shipon, Saifullah Khan Jem and Hasibul Hossain Shanto. Former player Wahidul Gani will coach them and Zahid Razzaque Masum will work as their team manager.
In addition to, Victory Day Exhibition match is being played since 1972 in honour of two valiant martyred cricketer and cricket organiser Shaheed Abdul Halim Chowdhury Jewel and Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmed. Jewel, who played for Azad Boys Club and Mohammedan Sporting, directly took part in the Liberation War. Unfortunately he was caught and killed by the hands of occupied Pakistani soldiers just one day before the Independence of Bangladesh. Mushtaq on the other hand was killed on the fateful night of March 25 beside his club premises just opposite to Gulistan cinema hall.
