Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim yesterday urged BNP to join discussion with the president over the issue of Election Commission formation after severing relations with Jamaat, reports BSS. “You (BNP) should not give different proposals over Election Commission formation, rather you (BNP) join discussion with the president after leaving anti-liberation war force Jamaat to take part in the next general election,” he told a discussion marking the Victory Day at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban in Dhaka University. The minister said “The President will form Election Commission in accordance with the Constitution. He will definitely hold a discussion with registered political parties to constitute a ‘search committee’”. Nasim, also health and family welfare minister, said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s proposal over the “search committee” is a part of her new conspiracy.
“Khaleda Zia is out to create controversy over the Election Commission formation by giving misleading proposals,” the Awami League presidium member said.
He said the next general election will be held in due time under the incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in accordance with the Constitution and it’s a settled issue.
“But Khaleda Zia is hatching conspiracy to make an unstable political situation,” the Awami League leader said. Nasim came down heavily on BNP saying that “You can criticize Awami League but you should not criticize Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”. The minister urged BNP to refrain from making “villain” as hero. “One should be treated as per his or her contribution to a particular field.” Bogra Students Association arranged the discussion and a reception to freedom fighters and distinguished personalities.
