Doha Bank opens Dhaka
representative office

Doha Bank QSC, one of the largest commercial banks in the State of Qatar, in line with its international expansion strategy, has formally launched its representative office in Bangladesh in The Westin Dhaka in the capital, says a press release.
“We have identified that Bangladesh is one of the key emerging countries in South Asia and establishing a presence in Bangladesh will provide Doha Bank with access to Bangladesh business opportunities and facilitate a greater understanding of the Bangladesh market, so that we can then develop and strengthen our footprint in the Country,” said CEO of Doha Bank Dr R Seetharaman.
“We do strongly believe that our commitment to supporting bilateral trade and business deals will be fulfilled only if there is a closer interaction on a personal level with the respective offices for transactions both outward and inward, from and to Qatar,” he added.
The CEO of the bank also said Doha Bank Bangladesh office will complement the services of our global network in our efforts to support and enhance the bilateral trade and customer service to customers who have dealings with Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and India, where we have full-fledged banking operations.
The immediate operating strategy is one where Doha Bank hopes to attract the support of key Bangladesh banks by affording them trade finance support, undertaking risk sharing and participating in the syndication loans and establishing Nostro account relationships in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) currencies and Indian Rupee, the statement added.
Incorporated in 1979, Doha Bank is the third largest local conventional bank by assets in Qatar, with a market share of approximately 7.1 per cent and assets totaling QR 84.5 billion.
