Cold waves, fog to follow depression in late Dec

Temperatures would start declining gradually turning to mild to moderate cold waves with the mercury falling to 6-8 to Degrees Celsius in the country’s north, north-east and central regions with moderate to thick fog enveloping the river basins by the month end, a monthly forecast for December by the Met Office said yesterday.
The forecast came after a review of the November weather by experts from various disciplines who consulted data and imageries from radar and satellite.
It showed the rains in November was more than average. Instead of 42mm, it was 86.4mm, mainly due to couple of low pressures and  depressions forming in the Bay of Bengal, one of which turned into a cyclone that however, shrunk into a depression from deep depression, Met Office sources said. The country would have normal rainfall and a low pressure that may intensify into a depression, the forecast noted.
