A young man was gunned down by criminals in West Barandipara of the district town on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Suman Biswas, 20, a fish trader and son of Hanif Biswas of the area. Sheikh Elias Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotowali Police Station, said a group of armed assailants opened fire on Suman while he was standing with his friend in front of a local mosque in the area around 6.30pm, leaving him injured critically. Local people rushed to the spot and sent him to Jessore 250-bed hospital where doctors declared him dead. However, the reason behind the murder could not be known immediately. Suman’s brother Shuvo Biswas said local criminals killed his brother following previous enmity. Suman’s father filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station.
