Grievously injured college student Khadiza Akter of Sylhet talked to journalists at Square Hospital in the city yesterday as she has recovered significantly, reports BSS. “With the 'doa' (blessings) of the countrymen, I am fine now. I am feeling well,” she said at a press conference.
She also sought blessings from everyone to help her recover early. “I am well. Please pray for my early and full recovery,” she said. Director of Medical Services of the Hospital Dr Mirza Nazim Uddin told reporters that she is now well as she can take her meals herself and also she can read. Now she needs to undergo therapy for her rehabilitation, Dr Mirza added. A student of Sylhet Government Girls' College, Khadiza also expressed her gratitude to Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina, Square Hospital authorities, media personnel and the countrymen. Square Hospital Neurosurgery Associate Consultant Dr. AM Rezaus Sattar, Medicine and Critical Care Department Associate Director Dr. Mirza Nazim Uddin were present on the occasion.
Dr. Nazim Uddin said Khadiza will be shifted to CRP at Savar for physiotherapy treatment. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for keeping confidence in Square Hospital regarding treatment of the critically injured girl. Khadiza was hacked by Sylhet Shahjalal Science and Technology University unit Chhatra League leader Badrul on her way back after an examination at Sylhet MC College on October3. She was first admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. The following day, she was shifted to Square Hospital in Dhaka and kept on life support.
