Begum Akhter Kamal to be honoured Dec 3

Professor Begum Akter Kamal is a well known name in the field of Bangladeshi literature and research. Her writing has a unique style that differentiates her works in literature. For her immense contributions towards the field of research and literature, she will be awarded with the ‘Ananya Shahitto Puroskar-1423’. The award will be given at a ceremony on December 3 at the Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum.
 Presided over by Ananya editor Tasmima Hossain, professor emeritus Sirajul Islam Chowdhury will attend the ceremony as chief guest while poet Asad Chowdhury and writer Selina Hossain will be present as special guests.
Begum Akhter Kamal obtained her PhD from Dhaka University’s Bangla department in 1992 for her research on ‘Bisnuder Kabimanas O Kabya’. Some of her published works are ‘Bisnuder Kabyo: Purano Prasanga’, ‘Mahmuda Khatun Siddiqua’, ‘Bisnuder Kabishobhab O Kabyarup’, ‘Adhunik Bangla Kabita O Myth’, ‘Biswajuddho Jibon O Kothashilpo’, ‘Kabitar Nandonikata: Prachin O Moddhojug’, ‘Kabir Uponnas’, ‘Mohabidroher Akhantottho O Kothashilpa’, ‘Kabir Chetona Chetonar Kothokotha’, ‘Rabindranath Jethay Joto Alo’, ‘Shamsur Rahman er Kabita: Abhigyan O Sangbed’, ‘Jibonananda:Kothat Ghorbe Kabita, among others.
‘Ananya Shahitto Puroskar’ has been awarded since 1993 to eminent women writers for their contributions towards the field of literature. So far, the award has been given to distinguished people, including Selina Hossain, Rizia Rahman, Dr Nilima Ibrahim, Dilara Hasem, Rabeya Khatun, Dr Sanjida Khatun, Shaheed Jananai Jahanara Imam, Nurjahan Begum, Razia Khan, Purobi Basu, Anowara Syed Haque, Makbula Manzur, Saleha Chowdhury, Nurjahan Bose, Maleka Begum, Dr Niaz Zaman, Jahanara Nowshin, Sonia Nisat Amin, and Kazi Rosy.
