Kamal makes
U-turn over arrest comment

Backing off from his previous comment, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said no culprit of Pahela Baishakh incident at Dhaka University's TSC, identified by inspector general of police through various information and TV footages, have been arrested yet, reports UNB.
“Efforts are on to arrest the culprits identified by the Inspector General of Police through various information and TV footages. I hope law-enforcement agencies will be able to hunt them down soon,” he said while talking to journalists at his ministry office.
Earlier on Monday, the junior minister told Parliament that law-enforcement agencies have already identified the culprits of Pahela Baishakh incident and arrested some of them.
"Similar actions will be taken against the rest of the culprits," he said, replying to a supplementary question from independent MP Tahjib Alam Siddique (Jhenaidah-2).
Asaduzzaman said, “Yesterday (Monday) I said in Parliament that some people have been arrested on suspicion. And three of them have been sent to jail under section 54.”
