Today is Massacre Day at Terosree village in Ghior upazila.On this day in 1971, Pakistani occupation army in collaboration with rajakars, Al-Badar and Al-Sams killed 43 people at the village.
The victims include Terosree estate Zaminader Siddheswar Prasad Roy Chowdhury and Principal of Terosree College Atiar Rahman. The Pakistani soldiers lined up the villagers and opened fire killing them on the spot.
After the massacre, the villagers fled their houses leaving behind all their belongings.To mark the day, Terosree Martyrs Memorial Committee has chalked out various programmes.
The programmes include discussion, mourning procession, wearing black badge and placing of wreaths at the graves of martyrs.
Even after 46 years of the tragedy the freedom fighters are still ignored in the society, said Someshwar Prasad Roy Chowdhury, son of Siddheswar Prasad Roy Chowdhury.
