BNP and its associate bodies are celebrating the 52nd birthday of their party senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman with various programmes, reports UNB. Tarique, living in London for ‘treatment’ since 2008, was born on November 20, 1965. Flanked by party leaders and activists, Tarique’s mother and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia began the birthday celebrations by cutting a 52-pound cake at her Gulshan office as the clock struck 12:01 on Saturday night.
A good number of party activists thronged the Gulshan office on the occasion. After cutting the cake, Khaleda phoned Tarique wishing him a happy birthday.
Later, she told her party leaders and activists, “I’ve talked to Tarique over phone and conveyed him your greetings. You please pray for him. He wished you all good luck.”
A munajat was offered seeking Tarique’s wellbeing.
BNP and its associate bodies chalked out various programmes to celebrate his birthday. The programmes include discussions, milad mahfils and free medical camp.
Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB), a BNP associate organisation, arranged a free health service from 9am to 2pm on the ground floor of the party’s Nayapaltan office. BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas inaugurated the programme from where around 400 people were given free health services and medicines.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with party senior leaders, including Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Abdul Awal Mintoo, cut a cake at Dhaka city unit BNP’s office, marking the birthday.
Gayeshwar and BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also cut a cake at the BNP office arranged by Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal.
