Mohammad Mithun blasted a 44 ball-62 as Rangpur Riders sealed a 12-run victory over Barisal Bulls in BPL-4 yesterday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Mithun’s 78-run partnership with Liam Dawson for the third wicket was key, owing to which, Riders posted 175 for six. Bulls fought neck-to-neck and took the chase to the last over before being all out for 163 in 19.4 overs. After the openers gave the side a fluent start, Mithun and Dawson carried the momentum, defying the highly rated Barisal bowlers. Mithun smashed six four and two sixes in the knock. Dawson played to a second fiddle to Mithun but once the latter was induced by a slower of Thisara Perera, he came out from the shell. In his 36 ball-46, Dawson struck three fours and one six. Afridi hit one four and two sixes in his 10 ball-22 to extend the agony of Bulls. Despite losing the opener Dilshan Munaweera in the first ball of the chase, Jeevan Mendis (57) kept the side in the hunt and added 74-run with Nadif Chowdhury (41) to stay Bulls alive. Shahid Afridi however pegged back the Bulls innings, removing both of them in his consecutive overs and from there on, Bulls started losing wickets one after another. Sohag Gazi, Rubel Hossain and Afridi bagged two wickets apiece.
