The exhibition ‘Impression of Time’ depicts impressions one gives to another could greatly influence how one is treated and viewed in many contexts of one’s life. In psychology, an impression is an event when one person first encounters another person and forms a mental image of that person. Impression accuracy varies depending on the observer and the target (person, object, scene, etc.) being observed. These impressions can be nearly impossible to reverse or undo making those encounters extremely important, for they set the tone of all the relationships that follow. So whether they are in the professional or social life, it is important to know the dynamics of impression. Not only are people quick to form impressions of time, they are also fairly accurate when the target presents himself or herself genuinely.
Artist Abdul Guffar Babu obtained his MFA from the Department of Print Making, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka in the year 2008. In between 2000 -2016 he has participated in many group art exhibitions, residency programs and art workshops at home and abroad. He has been working in many different media like watercolour, oil colour, pencil, acrylic, charcoal, etching aquatint, dry point, wood cut, lithography, installation, public art, video art, sound art, book illustrations, book cover design and mixed media since 2000.
