Yet another feather has been added to the cap of talented filmmaker Tauquir Ahmed-directed ‘Oggatonama’ (The Unnamed). The film has won the Best Narrative Feature Film Award at the Cutting Edge Film Festival 2016 in the United States on November 13. The festival organisers were full of praise about the film, which has been made based on the life of Bangladeshi expatriate workers in the Middle East.
Beginning on November 3, the curtain came down on the second edition of the festival on November 12. Director Tauquir Ahmed is currently in India to attend the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival for the third time. His film ‘Oggatonama’ will be screened in the international category of the festival tomorrow at 7:30pm local time at the Rabindra Sadan. To note, ‘Oggatonama’ earlier won the Special Mention Award at the 19th edition of Religion Today Film Festival 2016 in Trento, Italy. The film also grabbed a special jury mention at the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival on May 21 and Tauquir Ahmed won best film director award for the film in the Kosova Film Festival titled ‘Goddess on the Throne’. The film saw its world premiere at Marche du Film, the business counterpart of the 69 Cannes Film Festival on May 17 this year. On the other hand, the film will also participate in the forthcoming Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles. On the other hand, Oggatonama’ has been selected from Bangladesh to participate in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards to be held in 2017.
