Charge pressed against Obaidul

Police yesterday submitted the charge-sheet against the suspected killer Obaidul Khan in teenage schoolgirl Suraiya Akther Risha murder case that had caused a public uproar. Sub-inspector of Ramna Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, placed the charge sheet before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate yesterday afternoon. A total of 26 people were shown prosecution witnesses in the charge sheet.
The court set November 27 to decide whether it will accept the charges or not. Earlier, Police arrested the alleged killer of Risha from Domar upazila of Nilphamari district on August 31. On August 24, Risha, Willes Little Flower School and College eighth-grade student,   was stabbed by Obaidul in front of her educational institution at Kakrail in the city. On August 28, she succumbed to injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Her mother Tania Hossain filed a case against Obaidul Khan, a cutting master of Baishakhi Ladies Tailors of Eastern Mollika Shopping Mall on Elephant Road, for stabbing her daughter over refusal of love proposal. According to the case statement, few months ago Risha went to Baishakhi tailors to make a dress. She gave Obaidul her mobile phone number for communicating. After that, Obaidul began proposing love to Risha over phone.
