Rubel, the prime accused in the gang rape of an indigenous Garo girl, escaped from the Dhaka metropolitan magistrate's court premises yesterday afternoon. Two policemen were suspended over the incident. Inspector MA Jalil, officer-in-charge of Badda police station, confirmed the news. Rubel escaped from the court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Emdadul Haque around 3:30pm. Jalil said the investigating officer of the case, sub-inspector Emran, was with Rubel at that time. "We produced Rubel before the court as he had wanted to give confessional statement in the case," the OC said. “We’re trying our best to find him,” he added. Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police yesterday suspended SI Imranul Hasan and constable Dipak Candra Poddar in connection with the incident. DMP Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman confirmed it to The Independent. On Friday, RAB arrested the rapist from the Airport Rail Station area in the city. There are several criminal allegation against Rubel with Badda police station. On October 28, the indigenous girl had filed a rape case with Badda police station. According to the case statement, the victim was gang-raped by four youths, including Rubel, while she was returning home from her workplace in the city on October 26. Jalil said the victim was a resident of Khilkhet area in the capital and worked at a beauty parlour.
