A solo painting exhibition titled ‘Reflections’ by artist Lubna Charya will begin tomorrow at the Galerie Zoom of Alliance Française de Dhaka in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will be held tomorrow at 6 pm. Professor Jamal Ahmed, Department of Drawing and Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka will be present as the chief guest, while Kafil Ahmed, poet and singer will attend the opening ceremony as special guest.
Lubna Charya calls herself a non-academic artist: painting is her passion, her way of dreaming, the agency to express herself. She paints her thoughts, her imaginations and the philosophy she has been forging all her life. Her paintings could be distinguished as poetic in that sense. Her watercolour paintings represent village and city landscapes, urban life, village life, flowers and many other things. In this exhibition she will display some of her recent works.
From real-life reflections observed on the surface of water or glass, a profound relationship between watercolour and reflections can be established. Watercolour has the flavour as well as the characteristics of reflections and Charya utilises that to reflect the thoughts she wants to express to her viewers.
After the inaugural ceremony, the exhibition will remain open to all till November 17 and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday (9am to12pm and 5pm to 8pm). Closed -Sunday.
