RAJSHAHI: Experts here called upon the officials and others concerned to put in their best efforts for substantial and sustainable promotion of e-services to get its benefits properly, reports BSS. They defined that e-government helps simplify processes and makes access to government information more easily accessible for public sector agencies and citizens.
It is convenient and cost-effective for businesses and the public benefits by getting easy access to the most current information available without having to spend time, energy and money to get it.
The observations came in a workshop styled “Implementation Progress of E-services Activities” held in the conference hall district administration here on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner Office of Rajshahi organized the workshop in association with A2I Programme of Prime Minister’s office.
With Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair, Deputy Director of Local Government Dr Dewan Shahriar Firoj, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ataul Gani and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Parvej Raihan addressed the meeting as focal persons.
During her keynote presentation, Sadia Zerin, Assistant Commissioner of ICT, gave an overview of the district’s e-services promotion and progress in the fields of e-filing, web portal, e-mobile court, union digital centre and multimedia classroom. The anticipated benefits of e-government include efficiency, improved services, better accessibility of public services, and more transparency and accountability, she added.
The speakers said the present government has resurrected that vision and made it ready for the 21st century highly globalized world and named it Digital Bangladesh. E-Governance is a powerful tool for bringing about change to government processes in the developing world.
