A Narayanganj court has framed charges against six people including Harkatul Jihad leader Mufti Hannan in a case filed over a bomb attack on the Awami League office in 2001.

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Shahidul Haque Chowdhury framed the charges today. Mufti Hannan and 2 other accused were present in the court.

The attack was carried out on Chashara Awami League office on the 16th of June in 2001. 20 people were killed and 100 others including local Awami League leader Shamim Osman were injured in the attack. 2 cases were filed over the attack the next day. The police submitted an investigation report during the regime of the BNP-led 4-party government. However, a fresh investigation was carried out later.
