The Jatiyatabadi Swechhasebok Dal, volunteer wing of the BNP, has been partially reconstituted, with Shafiul Bari Babu as its president and Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel as general secretary. The new committee of the organisation was announced through a press release yesterday.
The release, signed by BNP assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu, said that party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday approved the committee in accordance with the Provision 13 and 8 (1) of the BNP constitution and at the directive of party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Babu was the organising secretary of the previous committee. Jewel is a former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of the BNP.
The other office bearers of the organisation are: vice presidents Mostafizur Rahman and Golam Sarwar, joint secretaries general Saiful Islam Firoz and Sadazzaman, and organising secretary Yasin Ali. Sadek Ahmed Khan has been given the responsibility of general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, as the incumbent general secretary Shafiuzzaman Khokan left eh post following the ‘one leader one post’ policy of the party. In another development, Albert D’costa was chosen as acting president of Jubo Dal on Wednesday.
