RANGPUR: Noted literary personalities Jibanananda Das and Shamsur Rahman would be remembered forever for enriching Bengali literature
through their great contributions, reports BSS.Speakers expressed the views at a poem recitation ceremony followed by discussion commemorating Jibanananda Das and Shamsur Rahman by cultural organisation ‘Ranon’ of Begum Rokeya University at Heyat Mamud Bhaban in the campus on Monday evening, a press release said yesterday.
Associate Professor of the Department of Bengali of Begum Rokeya University Dr Tuhin Wadud presided over the function participated by a large number of teachers,
students and cultural activists of the university.Assistant Professors of the Bengali Department Dr Shafik Ashraf, Dr Nittya Ghosh and Kaiser Alam addressed the occasion as the main discussants.
Students of the university Mohsena Mukta, Rawshan, Habib and Rubel, among others, recited poems of Jibanananda Das and Shamsur Rahman in the function.
The speakers said Jibanananda Das and Shamsur Rahman enriched Bengali literature and culture through their enormous literary deeds reflecting every corner of the nature and human society, its joys, sorrows and philosophical aspects.Shafik Asharf said that Jibanananda Das properly taught the people how to see, deeply observe and feel the nature all-around.
Kaiser Alam said patriotism was the main strength of Shamsur Rahman in his all literary deeds.Tuhin Wadud called upon the poets, writers, literary and cultural personalities and activists to further enrich Bengali literature and culture through following the ideals and philosophy of Jibanananda Das and Shamsur Rahman.
