Islamic University authorities have suspended a student on charge of beating the driver and helper of a bus hired for carrying female students of the university, reports UNB.
The action was taken against Syed Kamruzzaman Taranga, a master’s student of the IU Accounting and Information System Department.
The decision of suspending the student came at an emergency meeting of the university student discipline and security committee held yesterday with IU Vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, sources at IU registrar office said.
The university authorities also issued show-cause notices on two activists of the IU unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) -- Jubayer Rahman, a final year student of Arabic Language and Literature Department, and Tawfiqur Rahman Tushar, a third year student of Islamic History and Culture Department—to explain why action should not taken against them for their involvement in the incident.
