A Parliamentary delegation, led by Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, left the country for Geneva to attend the 135th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), reports UNB. The 14-member delegation left for Geneva on Saturday, said a Parliament Secretariat handout yesterday.
The 135th IPU Assembly is being held with the general debate on the theme of ‘Human Rights Abuses as Precursors of Conflict: Parliaments as Early Responders’ from October 23 to 27 in Geneva of Switzerland. Opposition Leader in the House Raushon Ershad, Chief Whip ASM Feroz, whip Atiur Rahman Atik, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Estimates Abdul Matin Kashru, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Planning Ministry Abul Kalam Azad and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways Ministry ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury are also among the delegation members. Besides, seven officials of the Parliament Secretariat went to Geneva to assist the delegation.
