Tauquir’s success for ‘Oggatonama’ celebrated in different style

The film ‘Oggatonama’, by now, needs no introduction as the film has created and continues to create tremendous impact. Recently, the film, directed by audience-admired actor-director Tauquir Ahmed, has been nominated from Bangladesh to participate in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards to be held in 2017. Under the initiative of Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS), among the four films, Tauquir Ahmed’s ‘Oggatonama’ has been selected. In line up with its very recent achievement of winning the prestigious Special Mention Award in the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, Tauquir’s ‘Oggatonama’ has earlier bagged a number of prominent awards in the different international festivals across the globe. The film won a special jury mention at the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival on May 21. Tauquir Ahmed won best film director award for the film at the Kosova Film Festival titled ‘Goddess on the Throne. Besides, the film also brought second award for Tauquir in the best screenplay category. The film also received other accolades such as best director at the South Asian Film Festival in Washington DC.
 With its immense number of awards, recognitions and honour, it was certainly a cause for celebration. That is why, several journalists from various dailies of the country decided to celebrate the success of the actor-director by paying him a visit to his Mohakhali DOHS office yesterday morning. They congratulated Tauquir Ahmed and celebrated his achievement with flowers and cake. The initiative was taken by eminent cultural reporter Ovi Moinuddin. The Daily Star’s Shah Alam Saju, Sangbad’s Nithor Mahbub, Amar Sangbad’s Rokib Hossain , Samakal’s Mir Sami, Alokito Bangladesh’s Sohel Ahsan, Sokaler Khobor’s Imdadul Haq Milton, Naya Diganta’s Alamgir, Jayjay Din’s Sheikh Samirah, photographers Mohsin Ahmed and Alif Hossain Rifat were among the enthusiastic journalists who met the successful actor-director.
Tauquir Ahmed expressed his appreciation, “The fact that all of the journalists who came to congratulate me, overcoming all the hectic traffic and heat, for that I am really honoured and grateful. After the success of the film, I have received love and appreciation from the people of the country. However, this is the first time that I collectively got so much appreciation in person. This moment is truly unforgettable. I have always received great support from the journalist community and I hope that I will continue to receive this support in the future as well.” Besides, Tauquir also spoke about his new venture ‘Halda’ with the journalists. The next phase of the shooting will take place in December. To note, ‘Oggatonama’ saw its release on August 19 in the country, while its world premiere was held on May 17 at Marche du Film, the business counterpart of the 69 Cannes Film Festival.
