Speakers of a roundtable in the capital on water-logging in Bhabodah area under Jessore district yesterday demanded immediate solution to the problem by adopting short-term, mid-term and long-term projects, reports BSS. Online news portal Risingbd.com organized the roundtable at its Rajuk Avenue office, participated by cross section of people, government officials, water experts and sufferers of the problem.
Speakers at the programme demanded immediate declaration of Bhabodah area as 'affected area' and introduction of Tidal River Management (TRM) system in the region.
They also proposed to form a regional authority comprising South-Western region like Barind Multi-Purpose Development Authority (BMDA). The speakers urged the government to ensure up-stream and down-stream connectivity of all the regional rivers and canals to remove water-logging from the region.
