An 8-day group painting exhibition titled ‘Jayantir Jolchhobi’, featuring artworks by 12 veteran artists of the country, will kick off today at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital’s Segun Bagicha area.
Noted artist Mustafa Monowar will inaugurate the exhibition as the chief guest today at 5pm at the Gallery-4 of BSA’s National Art Plaza. Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, eminent art critic Moinuddin Khaled will be present as special guest at the event.
Jointly organised by Anneshan Gono Pathagar O Samaj Unnayan Kendra and BSA, the exhibition will be showcasing the artworks by artists Hamiduzzaman, Ranjit Das, Sayeeda Kamal, Ivy Zaman, Farid Hossain, Rashid Amin, Rashedul Huda, Karu Titas, Alaptagin Tushar, Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohim, Azmir Hossain and Shahanur Mamun. Besides, a few photographs by photographer Golam Mustafa will also be put on display in the exhibition.
To note, the artworks of this exhibition are the outcome of a three-day art camp, which was organised by Anneshan Gono Pathagar O Samaj Unnayan Kendra in 2015. The 12 artists took part in the art camp in Nazirpur village on the bank of river Jayanti under Muladi upazila in Barisal district. The natural beauty of Nazirpur and culture and tradition of the simple-natured people of the village have been portrayed in these artworks. Besides, photographer Golam Mustafa focused on the nature, environment and life and work of the people of Nazirpur in his photographs.
After the inauguration, the exhibition will remain open to all until October 21.
