Gas link of CNG station snapped

Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited (BGDCL) disconnected an illegal gas connection of a CNG-filling station in Comilla yesterday, said a press release.
“Sales and vigilance team of BGDCL, along with the General Manager of Engineering Services Division, Engineer Yusuf Ali, led the drive in the evening,” said the spokesperson of BGDCL Naimul Alam Khan.
“There was an evidence of illegal interference of the gas connection of Sakura CNG-filling Station, which is situated at Kalakchua area in Burichong upazila of Comilla,” he also added.
“This type of drive will be continued afterwards,” he informed.
Youth held with $ 28,000, cameras

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a young man along with $ 28,000 and some cameras from the International Passenger Terminal at Benapole Check Post on Sunday night.
The arrestee was identified as Amir Hossain, 26, son of Anwar Hossain, a resident of Sorikori village in Choddogram upazila of Comilla district.
Major Liakat Ali, acting commanding officer of BGB-26 battalion, said tipped off, they challenged Amir coming from India at the International Passenger Terminal about 8.30pm. Later, they recovered 28,000 dollars and some cameras after searching his body and bags.
A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station in this connection.
Two crushed under train

Two people were crushed under the wheels of a train in front of Churamonkati High School at Meherullah rail crossing in Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as Samir Hossain, 27, son of Mahiuddin of Bagdanga village, and Shukur Ali, 30, of Churamonkati Bazar area in the upazila. Sub-inspector of Government Railway Police Rezaul Islam said the accident took place around 6:30 am when a Dhaka-bound express train from Khulna hit the duo while they were crossing the rail tracks in the area, leaving them dead on the spot.
Informed, GRP police recovered the bodies and sent those to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man along with one pistol and two magazines from Gazipur village at Benapole on Sunday night.
The arrestee was identified as Bablu Hossain, 42, a resident of the village.
Apurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said a team of the elite force conducted a raid at the house of Bablu in the area and arrested him at night. Later, the RAB members recovered one pistol and two magazines after searching the house.
The arrestee was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station. A case was filed in this connection.
2 killed by lightning in Sherpur
Sherpur: Two people were killed in two separate incidents of lightning strike in Jhinaigati upazila on Sunday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Sada Miah, 37, of South Dariarpar village, and Basiruddin Mandal, 60, of Darikalinagar village in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Jhinaigati Police Station Mizanur Rahman said a streak of lighting struck Sada as he was returning home from Dhanshail Bazar amid thunder shower in the evening, leaving him dead on the spot.
In another incident, Basiruddin was injured as a thunderbolt hit him while he was working in a field in the evening. Later, he was rushed to Jhinaigati Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
