JMB member gets 14 years imprisonment

A court in Chapainawabganj yesterday sentenced a member of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 14 years rigorous imprisonment.
Judge of Chapainawabganj Special Tribunal-2 Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict.
The convicted person is identified as Abdul Monib, 29, son of Ajmal Haque of Koilardiar Sannyasi village in Shibganj upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution story, a team police raided the house of Monib on June 18, 2009 at night and arrested him with one shooter gun and three rounds of bullet from his room.
Later, Sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman filed a case with Shibganj Police Station under Arms Act and on July 8, 2009.
After hearing witnesses the court gave the verdict in presence of the convicted person.
