BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday urged people irrespective of their religion and colour to remain alert about any evil motive to harm the country’s traditional religious harmony, reports UNB. In a message issued on the occasion of the Durga Puja, she said, “Bangladesh is a country of religious harmony. All, regardless of their religion and race, will have to remain alert against any evil act.”
The BNP chief greeted the Hindu community members on occasion of the puja and Bijoya Dashami. “I wish them peace, happiness and welfare.”
The Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of Hindus, began on Friday with the incarnation (Bodhon) of the goddess Durga at temples across the country while the Bijoya Dashami will be celebrated on Tuesday.
The BNP chief said any religious festival makes ties among people stronger and awaken their spirit of brotherhood. “The main message of all the religions is peace and welfare of human being. It’s the duty of all of us to devote ourselves towards establishing peace and equality in society shunning jealousy.”
Khaleda wished the all-out success of the Durga Puja.
