Khadija Akter Nargis, a student of Sylhet Government Women’s College, who was critically injured in an attack allegedly by a BCL leader in the city, has been kept on life support at a hospital in capital Dhaka.

Describing Khadija’s condition as critical, family members said she has been kept on life support at Square Hospital.

Earlier on Monday, Khadiza Akter Nargis, 23, daughter of Masuk Miah of Biswanath upazila, was stabbed allegedly by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit BCL leader Badrul Alam on her way home from college following the refusal of his proposal for having an affair with him.

Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rescued Khadija and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after giving him a good thrashing.

Khadija was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital from where she was moved to Dhaka around 12.10 am on Tuesday as her condition deteriorated.

Badrul was also admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in police custody.

The victim’s family sources said Badrul, when used to live at the victim’s family residence as a tutor at that time, had proposed to have an affair with her, but rejected.

Abdul Kuddus, a paternal uncle of Khadija, filed a case against Badrul Alam in connection with the incident with Shah Paran Police Station on Tuesday, said its officer-charge Shahjalal Munshi.

Students of Sylhet Government Women’s College staged a demonstration blocking Sylhet-Tamabil highway on Tuesday morning, demanding Badrul’ s arrest.unb
